Pondus and Nemi week 3
The two famous Norwegian cartoons characters Pondus and Nemi are now available in Russian. BarentsObserver is happy to present them to our readers with one new comic strip per week.
Pondus and Nemi are the two most popular comic strips in Norway.
Nemi comic strips are already available in Russia, and the book can be obtained from stores in both Moscow and St. Petersburg or ordered from the Nemibook.ru.
Today is however the first time Pondus is published in Russian and BarentsObserver is proud to present this comic to our readers first.
Pondus is created by the Norwegian cartoonist Frode Øverli. Since its start in 1994, it has become one of the most successful comic strips in Scandinavia. It has been translated to several languages, including Danish, English, German, Finnish, French, Icelandic, Latin, Sami, Swedish and Esperanto. And with today’s publication, also in Russian here at BarentsObserver.
You can read more about Pondus (only in Norwegian) or more about the main characters in Pondus at this page (in English). Pondus has also near 140,000 fans on Facebook.
Nemi is written and drawn by Lise Myhre. It made its first appearance in 1997 under the title Den svarte siden (“the Black Side” or “the Black Page”). At that time, it was a very dark cartoon concerning heavy metal subcultures, but Myhre has turned it brighter with the years, although she still frequently publishes strips about serious issues, especially in the larger Saturday panels. The strip was re-named Nemi, its protagonist.
BarentsObserver will present new Pondus and Nemi strips weekly, see our Russian pages.
